About the Artist

As an artist born and raised in California, I am deeply inspired by the beauty and biodiversity of my state. My current work focuses on celebrating the native flora and fauna of California. Through my Native California watercolor series, I document and honor the natural world to foster a deeper connection with the environment. With a passion for environmental education and conservation, I use my art as a tool to inspire appreciation for California’s unique and fragile ecosystems.

I was raised by two avid birders, and from a young age, I learned to recognize birds not just by sight but by their songs and behaviors. That early connection to nature still grounds me today—I find quiet joy in watching the birds that visit my backyard feeder, and many of them make their way into my paintings. Inspired by the prolific identification artworks of David Allen Sibley, my quiet moments of observation while painting remind me of the natural beauty that surrounds us.

My mother has been a student of Anna Mason's Nature Studio for years and finally convinced me to take a class! The online school was recommended by a famous Australian botanical artist named Jenny Phillips who would stay with my mother when she was in California teaching botanical art classes at Filoli.
